Global Startup Awards Comes to Ukraine

Start local, go global! This year Ukraine is taking part in the Global Startup Awards (GSA) competition for the first time. GSA is the largest independent international competition, encompassing more than 60 countries in 7 regions of Europe, Asia, and Africa. For more than 6 years it has been building bridges between startups, corporations, venture funds, investors, NGOs, incubators and accelerators.

The GSA competition consists of three levels: national, regional and global. Ukraine debuts as a part of the newly-formed EuroAsian Startup Awards (EASAwards), which also includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, the Russian Federation and Turkey. EASAwards' national partner and organizer in the territory of Ukraine is Major Key, strategic partner - 1991 Civic Tech Center, media partner – Obozrevatel (the largest local digital media).

Nominations are open now until 21 July 2019. To participate in the contest a startup should operate in Ukraine, use software/hardware technologies for its products and services and be less than 5 years old. Startups can be nominated through the online platform by anyone, even by themselves http://euroasianstartupawards.com/nominate-here

This year the participants compete in 19 categories: Startup of the Year, Best Newcomer, Best Social Impact Startup, Best IoT Startup, Best Fintech Startup, Best AI/ Machine Learning Startup, Best FoodTech/ AgriTech Startup, Best Smart City Solution, Best e-Commerce Startup, Best EduTech Startup, Best Blockchain Startup, Best Logistic & Supply Chain Startup, Best Big Data Startup, Best Software Development Partner, Founder of the Year, Female Role Model of the Year, Investor of the Year, Best Accelerator or Incubator Program, Ecosystem Hero of the Year.

 

Nominated startups will be first shortlisted after nomination closes and the bests in each category selected by recognized ecosystem stakeholders. National winners will be announced at the national finals taking place in each country in September. They qualify themselves to the regional finale where the best startups of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine will compete in order to attend the global finale.

In each category, Top 5 finalists will be shortlisted then announced on the 13th of August. National winners will be chosen by the jury and public voting (the public vote equals 1 jury vote) and announced at the national finals taking place in each country in September. The organizers will invite many local and international guests, investors, media and other powerful startup ecosystem stakeholders. Additionally, a one-day acceleration program is being prepared for the finalists, with the participation of leading experts in investment, marketing, management, and law. After the national round, the winners will qualify themselves to the regional finale where the best startups of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine will compete in order to attend the global finale.

Global and EuroAsian Startup Awards

EuroAsian Startup Awards is part of the world’s largest no-pitch, no-conference startup competition, Global Startup Awards that aims to find, recognize and connect the future shapers of the digital age from all around the world. The competition covers the Nordics, Central Europe, Southeast Asia, Southern Africa, South Asia and South Europe. EuroAsian Startup Awards is the newest region in the initiative including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine.
